Johnnie Walker from Radio 2 opens Clems Wood
Coker Hill nr Yeovil

Tuesday 15th August 2006 - 12 noon

Johnnie Walker

On Tuesday 15th August the woodland was opened by Johnnie Walker from Radio 2 with over 40 years of legendary broadcasting to his credit.

We were thrilled to have him here at Wooden Top farm, to open the woodland in memory of Clement William Richards a true country man and keeper of the land.

Who was Clement William Richards?

A mild patient gentle man, his name "clement" means mild merciful. A country man, born and bred, a farmers son. He loved nature, it never left him, always at one with creation, he was never more happier when out in the open fields working, it brought him much peace and contentment. He was strong dependable, stable, and greatly loved, as one friend said of him

"A real gentleman"

I am sure his spirit walks these hills even now. He would be proud of this moment and proud of his family for what has been achieved with this land.
