History of the Land
The land which Wooden Top farm occupies in Somerset is some 450 feet above sea level. Despite being so elevated, it has a history of being part of the sail industry of the famous West Choker area many centuries ago. i.e. the growing and drying of flax, which was used in the making of sails for the tall ships. This area was the first area in the country to be offered a shilling subsidy. Because its flax could produce the whitest cloth.
