Log Cabin
The log cabin at Wooden Top farm is an ongoing project. The main intention of the building is to provide living accommodation to the resident of the farm, with the prospect of providing an educational centre to the farm with the appropriate planning permission.
The Log Cabin structure is built entirely of coniferous timber, Douglas Fir logs. Timber is a renewable resource, meaning that for each tree felled to make the Log Cabin, another tree can be planted for use in the future.
The Log Cabin looks like it has come straight out of the forests of North America or Canada. Indeed, it was built using a highly skilled method called the American Full Scribe Technique. The method involves the contours of each layer of logs being carefully scribed and shaped into the layer above, so making a perfect water and air tight fit. The life of the timber should last well over 100 years!
